Advanced Handbuilding:
Putting It All Together

This will be a new site, but it is not completed yet and will not be uploaded for a while. This site is not included in your purchase, but will be available at a later date.

By the time you get to these lessons, you should have done at least one project in each of the basic five units so that you know the basic handbuilding techniques for working in clay and can use them. Just like the title says, you will be putting it all together to express your creativity and put your imaginings into reality. Sound like fun? You're right, it is!

In the first studio activity, we will create a teapot. Now, a teapot is functional, right? But does form necessarily follow function? We'll find out about the traditions and functions of the teapot through history, and then look at some contemporary versions of the good old standard. You're own teapot will be uniquely yours, pulling from tradition or a completely new creation. Enjoy!

The second studio activity takes us off onto a road we have not taken in our clay lessons so far. Clay is a wonderfully perfect medium for sculpture.
